Girovagando: The Giro Road Trip 2022
The presentation of the 2023 Giro d’Italia route is our cue to look back at this year’s race – or rather at the journey behind the journey, that is The Cycling Podcast’s three weeks on the road last May following La Corsa Rosa.
As most listeners will know, a month before the race our plans were turned upside down by the sudden, tragic loss of our friend, co-founder and leader Richard Moore. In its aftermath, we decided to honour our commitment to covering the Giro and to do it in Richard’s memory and his spirit – relentless, passionate and inquisitive. As had always been The Buffalo’s blueprint for The Cycling Podcast.
In this episode, we’ll take your back to the Grande Partenza in Budapest and all the way up Italy’s ‘Boot’ or ‘Stivale’ to the race finale in Verona, through the voices and sometimes sombre reflections of Lionel, Daniel and Brian Nygaard.
This episode was produced by Huw Owen.
