Record of Records

Filippo Ganna’s Golden Hour

When Filippo Ganna took aim at the World Hour Record in October, the expectation was that he would not only surpass but smash the 55.548 km mark set by Dan Bigham in August. Adding another layer of intrigue to the story, though, was the fact that Ineos Grenadiers had employed Bigham at the start of 2022 to help plot Ganna’s assault on the Record.

The Cycling Podcast’s resident track cycling agnostic, Daniel Friebe, journeyed to Switzerland to watch Ganna’s date with destiny. In this episode, Daniel also explores the history of the Hour Record – and explains why Ineos’s latest sporting moonshot began in a student hall of residence in Derby.
