Mont Ventoux: Heat, Wind & Fear

Archive: First released in 2016

Mont Ventoux has inspired novelists, musicians and playwrights. It has prompted philosophers to ponder the meaning of life and it has tempted countless cyclists to test themselves against its steep slope.

But the Giant of Provence has a dark side too. It is where Tom Simpson died in stifling heat during the 1967 Tour de France and where Marco Pantani and Lance Armstrong duelled in 2000.

Lionel travels to France with photographer Simon Gill to explore the mountain, its stories and its myths.
