The Grand Tour Diaries 2018
Part one: Giro d’Italia
by Lionel Birnie, Richard Moore and Daniel Friebe
We are launching the 2019 Friends of the Podcast programme with a four-part audiobook telling the story of the three grand tours and the Women’s Tour.
Part one focuses on the Giro d’Italia, which took the peloton from Jerusalem to Rome in May and was dominated by Mitchelton-Scott’s Simon Yates until the final Friday when Chris Froome turned the race on its head to win his third successive grand tour.
Lionel, Richard and Daniel have written and read their diaries for Friends of the Podcast and, with contributions from Orla Chennaoui on the Women’s Tour and François Thomazeau on the Tour de France, this four-part miniseries will be released over the Christmas and New Year period and will count as the first episode of the 2019 season.
So, join Lionel as he boards his flight to Tel Aviv for the Grande Partenza…
Access to our programme of at least 11 feature-length Friends of the Podcast episodes, plus a host of bonuses, costs £15, but listeners can pay more if they really like what we do. Support from our Friends directly pays for our coverage and helps us cover the three grand tours every year. In 2018, we were able to add daily coverage of the Women’s Tour, create the new Explore series and release more than 150 free-to-air episodes. Thank you for your support.
