Back in January we released our first Friends of the Podcast Special, recorded behind-the-scenes at the Lotto-Soudal training camp in Majorca.

While there, Lionel Birnie sat down with Lotto-Soudal’s Thomas De Gendt. As part of his preparation for the Tour de France, the Belgian rider won the opening of the Critérium du Dauphiné and so we thought we’d make the entire conversation available to Friends of the Podcast.

In this episode, De Gendt talks about winning a stage of the Tour de France on Mont Ventoux – a victory that was to some extent overshadowed by the incident which led to Chris Froome running up the road after a crash – how he targets breakaways and, having won on the Stelvio in Italy, and Mont Ventoux in France, the climb he’d most like to win on in Spain.
