It’s race day again in Flanders, with the Grand Prix E3 Harelbeke – a race named after a motorway that’s long-since been renamed – taking the riders deep into the hills of the Flemish Ardennes.

This race is not called the Little Tour of Flanders for nothing, the course covers territory we know from De Ronde, including the Paterberg and Oude Kwaremont, which will play a key part next Sunday.

Lionel is not on his bike today, instead, he’s in the broomwagon, or rather Simon’s VW Transporter, criss-crossing the countryside.

In this episode we hear from Australian rider Luke Durbridge, who was fourth in Wednesday’s Dwars Door Vlaanderen, and Lionel meets up with journalist and author Harry Pearson, who has spent the spring in Flanders researching a forthcoming book, to discuss the race.
