Special No.1 | Team Sky, the first five years
February 13 | Friends of the Podcast Special No. 1
The first Friends Edition of The Cycling Podcast is a Team Sky special in which your regular podcast hosts, Richard Moore, Lionel Birnie and Daniel Friebe, look back at the British team’s first five years: the good, the bad and the ugly.
From the origins of the team in 2007, to their torrid debut in 2010 and Tour de France victories for Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome in 2012 and 2013, Team Sky has often been at the centre of attention.
Richard, Lionel and Daniel have had unrivalled access, having covered Team Sky from when it was but a glint in Dave Brailsford’s eye.
In this, the first of 11 special podcasts to be released over the course of 2015, Richard, Lionel and Daniel discuss the important events and people who have shaped the team, including Braislford, Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome and Mark Cavendish.
They pick their best and worst Sky signings, and look at some of the challenges the team has faced, in particular the doping suspicion that formed a backdrop to their Tour success.
We also hear from 2013 Tour winner Chris Froome about the season ahead.
