The Cycling Podcast at The Signet Library with Richard Moore, Lionel Birnie & François Thomazeau

December 19 | In early December, Richard Moore, Lionel Birnie and French journalist François Thomazeau, who will be familiar to those who have listened to our Tour de France coverage, appeared before a sell-out audience at the prestigious Signet Library in Edinburgh.

The evening was split into two parts. The first half was a review of the year with a twist. Subjects were drawn at random from Lionel’s hat and covered races and talking points from the 2016 season. The conversation moved from Arnaud Démare’s ‘sticky bottle’ at Milan-San Remo to a series of unfortunate brushes with flowerpots, via the ribinou of the Tro Bro Leon, the Giro, the Tour and the Vuelta, before explaining the origins of François’ catchphrase.

At the interval, we asked the audience to write their own questions and leave them in the hat and in part two we answered as many as we could before time ran out.
