The countdown to the 2014 Giro d’Italia is underway.

Richard Moore, Lionel Birnie and Daniel Friebe are in Belfast for the Big Start of the Giro. With the official opening ceremony and team presentation happening in the background they are joined by former Cervélo and Garmin-Sharp rider Dan Lloyd to preview the race.

They look ahead to the opening stages in Belfast and Dublin and the rest of the race in Italy.

Plus we have several exclusive interviews. We hear from Garmin-Sharp sports director Charly Wegelius, who masterminded Ryder Hesjedal’s overall victory in 2012. He talks about the unique character of the Giro and Hesjedal and Daniel Martin’s hopes for a high overall finish. We also hear from Hesjedal about his form going into the race.

We also ask one of the other Irishmen in the field, Nicholas Roche, son of the 1987 Giro winner Stephen, whether he’s going for the overall standings or a stage win. Plus we talk to Nico’s Tinkoff-Saxo team-mate Chris Juul Jensen, who is Danish but spent six years living in Ireland.
